Got something to say? A project or art piece to show? Send it in to our student designed magazine, Point !

This issue's theme: communication breakdown

We are looking for feature articles, interviews, tips, artwork, a cover design, and volunteers for our upcoming issue. We are planning to assemble the magazine over the course of a weekend with students from all over the state using your content. If you are interested in creating content, volunteering to art direct, would like to help the students put it all together or if you have an idea please contact us.
In the past we have recruited students from ft lewis, csu, mscd, rmcad, the art institute, unc as well as acc and front range community colleges. In an effort to reach out the the entire AIGA Colorado membership we would like to encourage all members to submit content for our upcoming fall 2011 issue "communication breakdown."
In writing about the theme "communication breakdown;"
You may address the downward spiral of the economy, our political structure, forms and wayfinding systems we encounter on a daily basis, applications and social networks that connect us; how can graphic design improve the communications of everyday life in an age of information overload?
We usually feature 4-6 articles based on the theme and also include the following departments
  • Get to the point: a list of relevant web site and resources
  • Picks: websites, tutorials, inspirations, books, apps
  • Show and tell gallery: a place to show off your current work and indulge in some shameless self-promotion
  • Tech tips: have you found a new keyboard shortcut or power-user technique?
  • Lingo: what is the latest word or phrase or sms shorthand
  • Q&A interview: pick a local celeb, designer, art director, or proprietor of a cool shop and let them have a say
Submission is open to all AIGA Colorado members. We encourage you to write, pickup your camera, draw, create a layout, paint, and give us your best thinking on the subject of how graphic design can solve the communication breakdown. What can we as designers bring to the party to solve problems like public transportation, helping libya establish a new government, making boarding passes more readable, designing the ultimate "how to" instructions, designing the next mars rover
